Tree spade attachment

'We just had a gentleman who wanted to preserve some of the trees on a property he was clearing,' says Danny, a rental associate at our Triangle store. 'So he removed them using the tree spade, took them to another part of the property, and replanted them.'

The tree spade makes digging and packaging or transplanting trees much more efficient. You don't even have to leave the cab of of your machine.

'With some tools you're taking the tree out in pieces or as mulch. But if you use the tree spade, you can actually pick up a decent-size tree at the root ball and move it or replant it somewhere,' says Danny.

Here's how the Bobcat tree spade attachment works: Gates on the front of the tree spade open to allow access to the tree. Once around the tree, the gates close. Then rear stabilizers on the machine are lowered to transfer weight onto the tree spade. Three or four individual blades (depending on model) are lowered into the ground to cut the tree roots and create a root ball. The rear stabilizers are raised and the tree can now be transplanted into a new location or placed into a wire basket.

The tree spade is available in cone sizes 32" - 44". 'Plus,' says Danny, 'it's got an adjustment with a hydraulic arm, so you can open it up and pick up bigger trees with it.'
